    Conference Highlights

Khalifa University, as part of its ongoing mission to support the UAE’s goals through advanced education and research, has ingrained a focus on the Fourth Industrial Revolution into its research and development (R&D) strategy. With a strong focus on robotics, internet-of-things, and autonomous systems, KU is accelerating the development of technologies that will play a key role in the UAE’s Fourth Industrial Revolution. The Khalifa University Center for Autonomous Robotic Systems (KUCARS) integrates robotics related research activities at Khalifa University, to address some of the cutting edge R&D challenges in robotics. KUCARS builds on Khalifa University’s research strengths in unmanned aerial, ground and underwater systems, autonomous manipulation and computer vision. These strengths are extended to push the state-of-the-art in robotics for extreme environments, industrial inspection and industrial applications. Khalifa University also hosts the biennial USD5 million Mohamed Bin Zayed International Robotics Challenge (MBZIRC), a global robotics competition that aims to provide an environment to foster innovation and technical excellence in robotics.
