In this clip, Jessica Montes, a female engineering student, describes a project she worked on through the IEEE. The project was a summer research program in which Jessica was able to work with and teach young students aged 9-13 about engineering through a kid-friendly lab involving microwaving a chocolate bar.

IEEE works tirelessly to recruit young people into the various interdisciplinary fields of engineering. Women represent only 20% of engineers in the United States alone, and female minorities only constitute less than 10%. The IEEE's Women in Engineering series explores the careers and works of prominent female engineers and showcases what the IEEE is doing to recruit more women into the field.
