Satellite communications has historically targeted the rural and remote connectivity; as such, it has struggled to create a viable business case. With the advent of LEO mega-constellations, there is an increasing desire to enable direct satellite-to-device connectivity (even for high-rate use cases), which can potentially result in a multi-trillion-dollar integrated terrestrial-satellite ecosystem.
