Global Connect Stakeholders: Advancing Solutions - April 13, 2016

On 13 April, the IEEE Internet Initiative, in conjunction with the World Bank, held the Global Connect Stakeholders: Advancing Solutions event in Washington, DC. As a pre-event to the April 14th Global Connect Initiative High-Level meeting, it was a multi-stakeholder workshop on network technical, regulation and build-out acceleration options for connecting the next billion, with a focus on exploration of associated challenges and real-world solutions.

The event program was a blend of interactive and dynamic working sessions, lightning talks from various global players, including IEEE members, and a World Café. IEEE Technical Activities Vice President Elect Marina Ruggieri led the day's events alongside United States CTO Megan Smith, Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Cathy Novelli and ITU General Secretary Houlin Zhao.

In an entrepreneurial spirit, Global Connect Stakeholders: Advancing Solutions focused on innovative technical options and solutions for addressing the infrastructure challenges of providing Internet access to under-developed and under-served communities and regions, with a focus on accelerating roll-outs across the globe.
