Dr. Thomas Kailith, Hitachi America Professor of Engineering, Emeritus, at Stanford University was the recipient of the 2007 IEEE Medal of Honor. In this video Dr. Kailith is recognized for his life-long accomplishments and his contributions to the field that earned him this prestigious award. Dr. Kailith has started four different companies throughout his life, he has created algorithms for feedback communications, universal estimator-correlator detector structures for random signals in noise and the concept of displacement structure leading to fast algorithms in fields such as estimation, control direction of arrival estimation, adaptive filtering, channel identification and equalization, VLSI systems for signal processing, matrix theory and linear algebra.
