Though developments in robotics have made robots more and more capable of communication and other human activities, they are still a long way from having the intelligence required to manage even some of the basic tasks that humans do every day. To look at how we can make robots that better interact with humans, we caught up with Prof. Gentiane Venture (Distinguished Professor, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology / AIST, Japan), whose work includes finding out what elderly people might look for in a robot companion.
