#Blockchain #DLT #Consensus Protocol

Video from the online meetup being held by the IEEE-PT BWG on October 30th, 2020. This video addresses an introduction to Distributed ledger technologies (DLT), describes successful applications, and ongoing research to use them in several scenarios.

Distributed ledger technologies (DLT), such as blockchain, are a type of decentralized data storage and access technology in which data and user are connected in a distributed fashion through a peer-to-peer network and maintained by a consensus protocol, which has received substantial hype in the last years.

This talk will give an overview of DLT, describe some successful applications, ongoing research to use it in scenarios such as food traceability and for supporting the combat against fake news, and will try to clarify the type of scenarios in which this technology can be of use and the ones which are total nonsense.
