Tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, MPP Databases, and NoSQL Databases are discussed.

    “What is Big Data Analytics and Why Should I Care?”
    The era of big data is sometimes referred to as "the end of demographics," because everything is now being quantified and tracked across a wide variety of application domains. The essence and outcome of big data is to transform "embedded knowledge" from bytes of data into human understanding, for faster discovery, deeper insights, better decisions, and identifying the "next-best action." This tutorial examines some of the techniques from machine learning that are most helpful in extracting discoveries, insights, and better decisions through data. These techniques include unsupervised learning (e.g., clustering, principal component analysis, association mining, link analysis, regression), supervised learning (classification, decision trees, neural networks), and semi supervised learning (outlier detection, novelty and anomaly discovery). Taught by Kirk Borne, Principal Data Scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton.

    This 2h 35m tutorial provides an approach to foundational modeling for a variety of cyber security threats and architectures, culminating in creating models for a new method of enterprise cyber security protection based on micro-segmented virtualization. Early disclosure models such as Bell-LaPadula and non-deducibility are reprised and shown to be valuable in establishing meaningful access policies for an organization. Corresponding underlying models of perimeter weaknesses are then shown to serve as the basis for supporting new designs that tailor micro-segments to more advanced, distributed, virtual enterprise security architectures. Examples and case studies are used to illustrate processes, methods, and techniques for developing purposefully-engineered systems. In addition, the problems that arise when systems engineers and software engineers work together are covered, as are approaches that can be used to mitigate those problems. This presentation is intended for those who are, or will be, involved in development or modification of a multidisciplinary engineered system and others who wish to learn more about systems engineering when software is a system element.     This 6-hour course provides an overview of how 5G wireless and mobile communication networks will deploy Radio Access Network and Core Network technologies that provide 1000x network capacity, 0.1 to 1Gb/sec transmission rates, and enable the ultimate experience in web browsing and media streaming. 

    Technologies like enhanced MIMO, massive MIMO, and hot spots of micro/pico/femto cells using mm-Wave ultra broadband transmission will enable coverage enhancement and multi-fold capacity increase, respectively. Other widely deployed technologies in 5G will include energy-efficient air interfaces optimized for massively parallel transmissions from IoT devices, Cloud RAN, Software Defined Networking, and Network Function Virtualization. Features like traffic offloading in inter-technology HetNets (LTE-Adv overlay cells and mmWave and/or IEEE 802.11x underlay hotspots); decoupling of user data/control planes in SDN/NFV and software implementations on general purpose hardware will bring dimensioning flexibility and enhanced QoE for 5G users. 
    This course covers all of the above-mentioned technologies as well as accompanying market directions. Taught by Vinod Kumar, a retired director of ALU Bell Labs Wireless Research Program, and Sudhir DIXIT, CEO and Co-founder of Skydoot.
