Karen Panetta is an IEEE Fellow & Dean for Graduate Education at Tufts University. She earned her Ph.D. & M.S. degrees from Northeastern University and a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Boston University. She champions STEM Diversity & founded the Nerd Girls whose mission is to encourage and inspire girls that they can change their world around them by pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.

 

She is also the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Women in Engineering Magazine. She has created technology to aid in cancer diagnosis, homeland security and safety applications for first responders. Her life's commitment is to solving humanitarian challenges using technology and empowering youth to change the world.
