IEEE Communications Society has developed a strategic framework based on the principles that embrace Industry's interests and priorities while integrating IEEE and ComSoc's objectives. In order to engage industry members with high value and innovative technologies, IEEE Communications Society plans to hold a series of high impact one day Summits in emerging technology areas (e.g., SDN/NFV, 5G, IoT, Big Data, and Cybersecurity). The IEEE International 5G Summit at Princeton University on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 is the first one in the series. This one day summit provides a platform for the industry leaders, innovators, and researchers from the industry and academic community to collaborate and exchange ideas in this emerging technology that may help in driving the standards and rapid deployment of 5G technology.

Princeton 5G Summit - Sven Van Der Meer Keynote - Automatic Automation
How should we manage and control Fifth Generation cell technology? - traditional NOC (network operation centers) or Largely Self-Governed by the users - probably somewhere in between. An autonomic network would potentially have minimal human intervention, build a self-governing network (bound to business goals), define a governance model, and be designed for multiple constituencies; the adaptive automation is based on control loops, links analytics with policy, and adapts policy with the loop.

Princeton 5G Summit - Xiao-Feng Qi Keynote - We Want You - The Importance of Users and User-Centric Networks
What is a user? The Physical (speed and trajectory, distribution pattern, surroundings, device capabilities), Physiological (sensory response times, language difference), and Psychological (content/app preference, service consumption habit, social behavior) aspects must all be acknowledged in order to fully understand what the user brings to the table. We must develop a more User-Centric network in the fifth Generation of cell technology.

Princeton 5G Summit - Darryle Merlette Keynote - Good vs. Evil - The Hackers are Coming
The Fifth Generation of cell technology brings a multitude of wonderful things to our fingertips, but also new ways for our networks and devices to be hacked. It is imperative that scalable and holistic monitoring solutions are put in place to help track and mitigate attacks. Anything that can be accessed remotely, is vulnerable to a hack, however, as new attack paradigms emerge, innovative solutions must be developed.
