In recent years, with the rapid development of the new energy industry, electric vehicles and urban electric vehicle charging equipment have been rapidly developed. To improve charging efficiency and users’ quality of experience, more computing resource is requested for charging optimization. Edge computing is an effective way to provide intelligent computing capabilities. Considering that the edge computing nodes will be more and more intensive, in this paper, we propose a charging station centric cooperative edge computing architecture for electric vehicles and charging facilities. We first give the overall design of this architecture, and then describe the navigation system, deep learning module and computing resource virtualization in detail. At last, we give an example on how to choose a proper edge computing base station. This proposed new architecture provides a new computing model for various computing tasks in the electric vehicle charging problems.
