Megha Benn, an associate project manager at Siemens Smart Infrastructure in the USA, delivered an insightful talk on Emotional Intelligence in project leadership at an IEEE Computer Society event hosted by the SIT Student Branch Chapter.

Hello everyone! Welcome to IEEE computer society. Here was an expert talk on Emotional Intelligence in project leadership by Megha Benn an associate project, Siemans Smart infrastructure – USA, MGA Representative to Board of Governors. The event was hosted by IEEE Computer Society of SIT Student Branch Chapter and was held on 28th November 2023 with around 150 participants. Let’s dive into the tremendous session on the topic of Emotional Intelligence in project leadership. Thus an emotional intelligence was the ability to manage both our emotions and understand the emotions of people around us and covered the five key elements of emotional intelligence like self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. People with high emotional intelligence can identify how we are feeling, what those feelings mean, and how these emotions impact their behaviours and in turn other people. In the workplace, it's important for leaders to be self aware and able to view things objectively. This translates into understanding our strengths and weaknesses and acting with humanity. And also she explained about IEEE CS scholarship named Richard E Merwin. And some of the Exclusive perks of this scholarship was 1000 US Dollars funding for the students. Through, this interactive session with the speaker students come to know about more facts involved in IEEE and get to know about IEEE REM scholarship. That they come to know about various features involved in REM scholarship. Some of the features that students learned were that students will be appointed as one year student ambassador for IEEE Computer Society and talked about the criteria for applying the REM scholarship. She got interacted with lot of students present in the venue. There were also questionary session where the IEEE Students asked their doubts and queries and the session gone so well. There were also a representative came from IEEE Madras Section Young Professionals and he explained about the various opportunities present in IEEE and how to get benefited with the perks of IEEE computer Society.
