Srinivas Pentyala

Biography

Dr. Srinivas Pentyala is the Director of Translational Research and Professor of Anesthesiology in Stony Brook University Medical Center, NY, USA. He has joint appointments in the departments of Orthopedic Surgery & Rehabilitation, Urology, Health Sciences, Physiology and Biophysics. He is currently working on several translational and applied research projects and his research has received funding from industry, public and private sources. He is the recipient of “Innovative Scientist Award”, “Pride of India Gold Award” and several “Excellence Awards” for his contributions to the field of research and education. He was awarded Stony Brook University’s highest honor – “SBU Presidents Champion Award”, along with  “SBU-Wolfie Award”, “Most Influential Professor/Faculty Member” Award, “Catacosinos Cancer Scholar Award”, “Excellence in Education and Research Awards”, “CELT’s Best Teaching Professor”, and “Presidents Team Achievement Award” to name a few. He also received “Michael Mafonte Community Service Award” – the highest honor given by Stony Brook Hospital for service to the community. He delivered around 250 invited talks all over the world and published more than 100 peer reviewed papers along with several science articles. He also was granted several patents which were licensed to industry. He is the founder of a summer enrichment program in biomedical sciences which is now in its 22nd year, where more than 3500 young students were exposed and trained in novel biomedical and bioengineering technologies. More than 300 high school, undergrad, grad and med students, residents, fellows and post-docs worked in his research lab and he also serves as mentor for many junior faculty. He is the founding director of several biotech and health care companies. He serves on the advisory board of several journals, national and international biotech and health care companies, and research institutes.
