Session Title : IEEE History Center peer-to-peer interviewing - How to get started session
Session Type : Breakout Session
Session Description : Capturing both events and motivations that might not appear in the written record, oral history interviews are an important resource for historians. The IEEE History Center curates a collection of nearly 900 oral histories of important contributors to IEEE and IEEE’s fields of interest. The final transcripts are posted on the IEEE Engineering & Technology History Wiki (ETHW). Recently, the Center instituted a peer-to-peer program under which IEEE members are trained to interview fellow members. This activity is ideal for Sections (or Chapters or Affinity groups) that want to preserve local achievements or build a history of their local organization. It also promotes local pride and member engagement. This session will explain how to get involved in this exciting activity.

Speakers Name : David Michelson, Michael Geselowitz

IEEE Sections Congress, the triennial flagship event hosted by MGA, brought together volunteer leaders from every member country to share ideas and solutions. IEEE Sections Congress 2023 was an in-person event.

Volunteer leaders worldwide met in the Shaw Centre, Ottawa, Canada, to exchange ideas and learn about the products and programs IEEE offers to members in their local areas.

There were dynamic and engaging networking sessions to exchange ideas and best practices. IEEE organizational units offered exhibit booths to provide information on IEEE resources and tools to strengthen and support vital units.

IEEE volunteers and members attended Sections Congress 2023 from 11-13 August 2023.
