Javier Lorca Hernando

Biography

Javier Lorca Hernando received his MSc degree in Telecommunications in 1998 from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. In 2000 he joined Telefónica R&D where he was responsible for 3G and 4G link-level simulations, also being involved in prototyping of new radio systems, standards contributions, European Projects, and generation of IP and publications. In 2016 he led the Radio Innovation team at Telefónica R&D, and in 2018 he was the global responsible for Radio Innovation, Open RAN and radio Standards at Telefónica's Global CTIO. Since 2021 he has worked as a Consultant at InterDigital Europe on 6G radio research and standards. His interests include ISAC, MIMO, near field, RIS, and waveforms. He has published 33 papers in conferences and journals, is the lead inventor of 50+ international patents, and co-author of two book chapters. He is engaged in ETSI as the secretary and an active contributor of ETSI ISG ISAC, and served also as secretary of ETSI ISG THz between 2022 and 2024.
