Makers rose to the challenge of helping with PPE during the Covid-19 Pandemic. When the government failed to respond and industry also lagged, a civic response was necessary to help frontline health care workers. Networks of makerspaces shared designs for personal protective equipment, produced them locally, and distributed them locally. These efforts were effective countermeasures at a time when the global supply chain was broken.
