Session Title : Planet Positive 2030

Session Description : Global participation wanted! This session introduces Planet Positive 2030, an initiative supported by the IEEE Standards Association, that brings together a global, open community of experts to chart a path for all people and our planetary biosphere to achieve a flourishing future in order to achieve true sustainability for the long run.

Projects under this initiative:

Building a compendium, "Strong Sustainability by Design: Prioritizing ecosystem and human well being with technology-based recommendations" that suggest ways to achieve GHG emissions reductions to about 50% of 2005 levels by 2030 while significantly increasing regeneration and resilience of earth’s ecosystems. Creating "Accountable Sustainability by Design", an accountability framework designed to help organizations of any size start their own Planet Positive 2030 journey

You and your section will be invited to provide your comments and technical expertise and knowhow on the Strong Sustainability by Design Compendium and to test drive a Sustainability Assessment Tool.

IEEE Sections Congress, the triennial flagship event hosted by MGA, brought together volunteer leaders from every member country to share ideas and solutions. IEEE Sections Congress 2023 was an in-person event.

Volunteer leaders worldwide met in the Shaw Centre, Ottawa, Canada, to exchange ideas and learn about the products and programs IEEE offers to members in their local areas.

There were dynamic and engaging networking sessions to exchange ideas and best practices. IEEE organizational units offered exhibit booths to provide information on IEEE resources and tools to strengthen and support vital units.

IEEE volunteers and members attended Sections Congress 2023 from 11-13 August 2023.
